coming into the world
I created this piece for the baby of one of my closest friends, as she was nearing her arrival into this world. Only a few days earlier, I had painted on her mother’s belly — a moment during which the vision for this work came through, clear and unexpected. The image stayed with me, asking to be brought into form as a welcoming gesture, a soft blessing. As I painted the final touches of the piece, the baby was being born — something I did not know with my mind at the time. The timing revealed itself later, adding another layer of meaning to the work, as if the painting and the birth were unfolding together. This artwork was neither sold nor commissioned. It was created as a gift, guided by love, intuition, and the honoring of a threshold moment — the space between worlds, just as a new soul arrives.
